Comprehensive, physician-supervised medical weight loss
Andover - Haverhill - Lowell
Obesity is a Chronic and Treatable Disease
Obesity is a complex, chronic, and treatable disease. Weight loss has been shown to reduce the risk of numerous obesity-related conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, fatty liver disease, and certain cancers.
At our Weight Management & Lifestyle Medicine Center, we provide comprehensive physician-supervised medical weight management, including lifestyle coaching, treatment with FDA-approved medications such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), intragastric balloon placement, and gastric bypass revision procedures such as transoral outlet reduction (TORe).
Care is individualized based on each patient’s medical history and treatment goals, with a focus on safe, evidence-based weight reduction and management of associated conditions.
We are currently accepting new patients at our locations in Andover, Haverhill, and Lowell.

About the Program
Integrated Gastroenterology Consultants partners with Lowell General Hospital and Lawrence General Hospital Centers for Weight Management to provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care for patients seeking weight reduction. Our program includes lifestyle intervention, pharmacologic therapy, and endoscopic and surgical procedures. Care is individualized to support safe, sustained weight loss and improvement of obesity-related conditions. Compare weight management treatment strategies here.
Lifestyle Medicine Pathway
The lifestyle medicine pathway focuses on sustainable behavioral change to support long-term health. Patients work with a multidisciplinary team that includes clinicians, registered dietitians, and behavioral health specialists.
Treatment includes nutritional counseling, physical activity guidance, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Health coaching techniques are used to support behavior change and reinforce patient-specific goals and values.
For those interested in optimizing lifestyle medicine as a pathway to weight loss as well as overall health, IGIC also facilitates Pivio (formerly CHIP) programming. To contact us about Pivio, please send us a message here.
We have a private Facebook group to bring together our IGIC Weight Management & Lifestyle Medicine community where patients can cheer each other on: click here to request to join.
Obesity Medications Pathway
The obesity medications pathway combines lifestyle intervention with pharmacologic therapy for appropriate candidates.
Patients are evaluated by a clinician with training in obesity medicine to determine the most appropriate treatment plan. Medication selection is individualized based on medical history, current conditions, and treatment goals.
These medications, including GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, may work by reducing appetite, increasing satiety, or affecting metabolic pathways. Patients are monitored regularly, and treatment is adjusted as needed. Please note: not all patients will qualify for medication therapy.
Endoscopic Procedures Pathway
In addition to medical and lifestyle treatment, we offer minimally invasive endoscopic weight loss procedures, including:
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG): an incision-free procedure that reduces stomach volume
Intragastric balloon: a temporary, non-surgical option to support early weight loss
Transoral outlet reduction (TORe) with OverStitch: for patients with weight regain after gastric bypass
These procedures provide non-surgical alternatives for patients who have not achieved adequate results with lifestyle and/or medication alone.
Surgical Pathway
The Weight Loss Surgery Program at Lowell General Hospital and Lawrence General Hospital offers a full spectrum of safe and effective surgical procedures for obesity, weight disorders and metabolic disease. Our surgical team performs a high volume of weight loss surgeries and achieve excellent outcomes. Each is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in treating patients with complex medical disorders related to obesity as well as weight disorders and metabolic disease. Surgical options include gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en-Y gastric bypass and surgical revision.
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD)
Metabolic dysfunction–associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) affects approximately one in three adults in the United States and is closely associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes. It is an increasingly common cause of chronic liver disease and can progress to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
Early recognition and treatment are important in preventing disease progression. Weight reduction remains a key component of management, with evidence showing that a 10% reduction in body weight can significantly improve or reverse fatty liver disease.
We offer structured treatment options, including a virtual lifestyle program designed to support dietary modification, physical activity, sleep, and behavioral health. These interventions are integrated into a comprehensive approach to metabolic health.
Nutritional Services
Nutritional therapy is a core component of our weight management program. We emphasize a whole-food, plant-predominant Mediterranean-style diet.
Patients meet individually with registered dietitians for personalized nutrition counseling and meal planning. Additional offerings include clinician-led educational sessions and cooking classes focused on practical strategies for meal preparation and healthy eating. Join us as we demonstrate how to make easy, delicious, and nutritious meals - with fun! Learn all the health benefits of herbs and spices and the tricks and tips on chopping vegetables and meal prepping. Go to our News page for upcoming classes and sign up by emailing healthyliving@integratedgic.com.
Meal replacement options are also available for selected patients as part of a structured weight management plan.

Praise for Pivio

“My personal experience with PIVIO has been life changing. This program opened my eyes to all the bad and destructive foods I considered “Healthy”. I learned that while many of my poor eating habits contribute to excessive weight gain and were leading me down a path that included dangerous comorbidities, I am able to stop + reverse most of those conditions. Eating a plant/based clean food diet is not as difficult as I thought. If I can do it, Anyone can! I lost 30 pounds in 10 weeks!”

“Love the group and program experience. I enjoy following a 'mostly' plant based diet and love the weight loss success I've had and feel more healthy and energized by the program. Food as medicine is much better than medicine and I hope to shed my medicine soon.”

“I have been overweight all my life. This is the only program that I have been successful with to lose weight and keep it off! I credit Dr. Rao, the APP’s, Nicole, and my in person group helped me achieve this. I still have a little bit more to lose, but I feel I have the tools to do this.

"My experience was amazing. Everyone was wonderful. Things that I learned about the food were shocking. The new kind of foods that we eat, the healthy food is great and our health improves which is great. And I have lost plenty of weight so that is good. Nicole is awesome, gonna miss the crowd. Can't wait for the Spring cohort in April. To return to Dr. Rao, Suela. I'm so happy I joined this amazing group.”

“I believe PIVIO has not only saved my life but completely changed my being. I lost over 100 pounds and I wake up everyday with pep in my step and a smile on my face. I attend the gym 5 times a week, I also hike and enjoy life."

“I started PIVIO thinking I couldn't possibly survive without meat, eggs and dairy. After I did my 5 day, I realized this is okay; I think I can do it now. I am doing around 95% PIVIO and I am so proud of myself. My A1C went from 6.5 to 5.6. My A1C hasn't been down that low for decades. Also my doctor took me off my blood pressure medication.”

“As this is my second time doing this program I feel like it's a part of my life, I do not want to live without. I've achieved so much that I didn't think possible and this is coming from already knowing a little bit about diet & exercises. Carrying the over weight I've been carrying for years and almost being diabetic for the first time ever in my life was a little scary. Ive learned alot and achieved a lot and was able to lose some of the weight I wanted to. In total, within less than 2 years I've lost 40 pounds because of PIVIO. I'm proud of this and thankful to all of the medical staff that have helped me and many others through their journeys. I want to continue with this journey to get to my ultimate weight goal and learn how to “stay” there so I can have a long healthy lifestyle to live through. PIVIO is a life changer and not sure where I’d be without it. Thank you always.”

“This class has definitely changed my approach on eating for the better! The class has opened my eyes on the benefit of eating vegetables. Prior to the class, I was eating meat with every meal, today I have gone to a 85/15 mix of vegetables.meat (predominantly fish & chicken) with the result being a loss of over 15 lbs from my max weight. As for Nicole, Dr. Rao and Suela they are truly informative and I have learnt alot from them and the discussions of the group.”

“I have had a very positive experience with PIVIO. I was a little skeptical at first. 18 in person sessions within a 12 week period? I am very happy I completed this program! I have learned a lot and have applied what I have learned to improve my lifestyle. The staff is great and very supportive. I highly recommend it!”

“I did not think that this program was for me. But I soon found out that it was easy to follow, and we were given a lot of support. I didn't miss eating meat. I was able to give up my diet coke and some foods I knew that weren't good for me. I feel better, lost some weight and will continue to follow this program. I learned a lot about food but also how to make and reach goals, change bad habits, sleeping, exercising and lifestyle changes. Still have more to learn!.”

“I went into this program not wanting to do THIS AT ALL! Nicole told me there is so much more to the program than just food. I myself do not like vegetables but have been trying new things. Looking forward to coming back again. I feel great, lost 12.5 pounds and plan on keeping up with the lifestyle changes I have made. Till I lose the extra pounds and I eat tofu!”
