Our award-winning gastroenterologists in the Merrimack Valley provide GI services including colon cancer screening through colonoscopy and advanced non-surgical weight loss procedures for patients throughout Lowell, Andover, Lawrence, Newburyport, and surrounding communities.
With short wait times at our two outpatient centers in Andover and Lowell and three hospital locations in Lowell, Lawrence, and Newburyport, we perform essential procedures such as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, which are critical for the early detection and prevention of colon cancer, GERD, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
We are among the few groups in Massachusetts and New Hampshire offering minimally invasive weight loss procedures, including endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), intragastric balloons, and gastric bypass revision treatments such as TORe (Overstitch). These non-surgical options help patients achieve meaningful weight loss without traditional surgery.

Welcome to Dr. Holzwanger, IGIC’s new Director of Endoluminal Surgery and Bariatric Endoscopy! Dr. Holzwanger specializes in advanced procedures and endoscopic weight loss treatments such as endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and gastric bypass revision. He is accepting new patients.
We are scheduling colonoscopies and endoscopies with a 2 week wait time.

Our Weight Management & Lifestyle Medicine Center offers personalized, physician-supervised medical weight loss programs for patients in Lowell, Haverhill, Andover, and throughout the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire. Led by obesity medicine–certified physicians, our clinic delivers comprehensive, evidence-based care—including FDA-approved weight loss medications (such as GLP-1 receptor agonists), non-surgical weight loss procedures, nutrition counseling, and lifestyle interventions—to help patients achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

Pivio is a complete health improvement program to improve chronic medical conditions through lifestyle interventions.
Medications
Meet with our lifestyle- and obesity-medicine trained physician, nurse practitioner, and nutritionist in one-on-one visits to discuss weight management, including medications for qualified patients such as GLP-1s.
Endoscopic Procedures
We offer non-invasive bariatric procedures performed endoscopically without need for surgery, including intragastric balloon placement (Orbera and Spatz) and endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG).
IGIC is now paperless!
In order to improve communication - such as getting you your results more quickly and securely - as well as to reduce paper waste, we are now paperless. We no longer send mailed results. Instead, we publish results directly to your Patient Portal. You can also message your clinical team, request prescription refills, and pay your bills through the Portal. Please note: the IGIC Patient Portal is not the same as Tufts/Lowell General MyChart. You will need to sign up separately to access your IGIC-specific results.
